2018 League Rules

Gentlemen:

The match formats have reverted back to previous years. The point allocation has

changed. Each team match is worth a total of 10 points; 8 for match (close-out) and 2 for

the press. The possible choices are: team play, with the format being BEST BALL, or

BEST BALL- BEST BALL or BEST BALL – BEST BALL tie breaker or BEST BALLTOTAL

or individual match play. The lower team in the standings (at the point of equal

matches played) will have the option of selecting format or venue. The team selecting

venue must inform the opposing team of its selection 2 days in advance. In the case of

the selection of match play the selecting team will also select the matchups. Our

championship matches will be mano y mano, and the point will elevate to 8 points per

match (6 points to win match and 2 points press). Therefore there is a total of 16 points

available for each team.

The teams should flip a coin for the initial choice of venue or format.

Also, since this is team play we will allow only one match cancelation within 1 week of a

schedule match. If a teammate cannot play then the other will play the other team in a

BEST BALL format. Note we have modified this option in that the single player will

alternate playing the opposing pair. The initial start will be set up the team with the two

players.

Replacement Players:

If a player is injured and can no longer play then the other member must find a permanent

replacement with an established handicap.

If a player is injured during the match and cannot play; then the balance of the match

will be play by the remaining player against the other team. The match format will be

changed to Best Ball and the previous holes that were played will be re-scored on a best

ball format.

Handicaps:

We will be using our current handicap index. Each player will be expected to obtain a

GHIN number and maintain their own handicaps. The initial handicap should be

established by entering 10 rounds with a score/ratings and slope that generate the

appropriate index. Those entries are supplied in the accompanying page. Each player

must send me their GHIN number so I can monitor play and post the indexes to be used

for each week.

MAKE SURE ALL SCORES ARE POSTED NO LATER THEN 72 HOURS AFTER

YOU PLAY A ROUND OF GOLF. THIS MEANS ALL GOLF ROUNDS!!!!!!

IF IT IS FOUND THAT A PLAYER HAS MISSED POSTING ROUNDS THE

COMMISSIONER WILL MODIFY YOUR INDEX BY 1 FULL POINT .

Playing Rules:

(1) All matches will be played from the middles tees (white), as long as the total

yardage is greater than 6000 yards. If course is smaller than 6000 yards play from

the next furthest tees to obtain greater than 6000 yards.

(2) This year we will play the proper rules of golf, 2019 proposed rules (WHICH

WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE-). Play the ball as it lies, unless weather

conditions or course conditions are poor and it is agreed before the match begins

that balls can be rolled in the fairway or cleaned and placed.

(3) If a match is interrupted (rain, darkness, whatever, etc.) and cannot be finished ;

then if less than six holes are completed the match shall not count and should be

re-scheduled and restarted at hole number 1, as if the other match never occurred.

If six or more holes have been completed then the match should be re-scheduled

for the same course and the team match ups will remain the same. The match

shall start from the point it was interrupted and the previous results will be added

to the new for a complete round.

(4) A new option has been allowed for all players 65 and older. The golfer can select

to play from the senior tees; but to do so must set his handicap based on the slope

of the senior tees and must give the opposing players on the opposite team

additional strokes based on the difference in rating (USGA Rules). Take the

difference of the two ratings and if the difference is equal to or greater than 0.5

add a stroke for each unit higher and round up at ,5. Therefore, if the rating at the

Men’s tee is 72. And the rating at the Senior tees is 70.5, the difference is 1.5 and

the Senior would have to give all Men’s tee players 2 additional strokes.

Hole in One:

This year if anyone gets a “hole in one” during our match play, he will win $100./man

but drinks are on him!!!!

Penalty

Because we have added an additional team; getting matches completed in a timely

manner will be essential! Therefore, each team must get two matches completed every

month. Any team not completing the required matches will be penalized $50./ team to be

added to our dinner fund. We will start the penalization for the end of June. Therefore,
